Time to Speak Out

Here is an old European warning that I have Americanized and updated for our time concerning increasing governmental regulation and taxation:

They came first to over-regulate and over-tax tobacco and tobacco smokers and I didn't speak up because I hated tobacco.

Then they came to over-regulate and over-tax alcohol and alcohol drinkers and I didnít speak up because I didnít touch the stuff.

Then they came to over-regulate and over-tax all pornography and ďRĒ rated movies and all consumers of erotica and I didnít speak up because I was happily married.

Then they came to over-regulate and over-tax bad and offensive music and the listeners of bad and offensive music and I didn't speak up because I only listened to good music.

Then they came to over-regulate and over-tax guns and bullets and I didnít speak up because I didnít have a gun; and the sign on my doors inform potential violent intruders that my home is safe and gun free.

Then they came to over-regulate and over-tax Christian Churches and religious Bible thumpers and I didn't speak up because I didnĎt go to church or even own a Bible on which to thump.

Then they came to over-regulate and over-tax things that I like: my prescription drugs, my coffee, my ice tea, my lemonade, my beautiful music, my free speech and my freedom to listen to and read opinions that they suddenly oppose; and by that time no one was left to speak up.

ďAnd it isnít good for the childrenĒ will always be their cry for justification.  But it is their vision of the future for which it is not good!

If it was good enough for Nazi Germany to control and ban tobacco,
Then it must be good enough for America to control and ban tobacco!
Or, so, that is what the anti-tobacco health Nazis of America are saying.
